they say three-week-olds don’t smile…

at least, not on purpose. Those dreamy sleep smiles, sure. But a wide-eyed, deliberate smile? Not supposed to happen for another few weeks, right?

But then…what is THIS?

Especially considering she looked like this half a second later:

You bet. That looks like a grin to me. When it’s accompanied by a giggle, you’ll know.

She’s beautiful, by the way.

the so called ‘norms’ are to be challenged
she is lovely and it is a smile, what a clever girl

Brenda April 9, 2009 9:31 am

Real, real, real! She is so darling!

Hee hee–thanks for the validation, ladies! She’s certainly a happy baby so far. Now what other myths can we bust? How about the “babies don’t really run a temperature when they’re teething” one!

Kristin T. (@kt_writes) April 9, 2009 13:19 pm

Adorable! And definitely a real smile (with those dimples, no less). Sigh.

She’s a prodigy, no doubt. And look at those dimples!

laura April 11, 2009 7:09 am

that is TOTALLY a smile!

oh, that whole temperature when teething thing…my pediatrician friend let it slip that the reason doctors tell you that is so you won’t ignore a fever that’s NOT teething. know what i’m sayin’?
