In case you generally read my Mama-Rama column in the Lansing NOISE, you may have noticed that I’ve recently gone down to writing for them only once every other week. My editor Brian and his wife just had a baby, and he is writing about fatherhood every other week, so dads now get equal time. As much as I love writing the column, I have to say I’m enjoying this little breather–in four years, I took ONE holiday from writing that column–a single week after Owen was born. Seriously, that’s it! After 200+ columns, you start to worry that you’re repeating yourself, so it seemed like a good time to slow down and take a little break.

Speaking of both taking a break AND dads getting equal time, I’m busy revving up for my road trip next week. Right now I’m obsessing about the weather, falling in swamps, and losing my shoes in manholes over on the Mom Road Trip blog.
